Dear Reader,
We just got home from one of the most interesting weekends we've had as a pop-up bookseller and we have a lot to share.
π New on The Blog
This week's blog post is honest, a little vulnerable, and something we think every small business owner will relate to.
The Risk/Reward of Saying Yes: What We Learned as Pop-Up Vendors
Every time we sign up for an event, we're making a bet. This weekend, the bet didn't pay off the way we hoped, but we had a solid sales weekend and came home smarter. Dead sunflowers. Muddy grounds. A $19 entrance fee we didn't know about at booking. And still, we showed up, we sold books, and we came home with a clearer picture of what to look for next time.
π $200 for the Imagination Library
At the festival this weekend, we pledged 10% of every sale to the Imagination Library β Dolly Parton's organization that mails free books to children from birth through kindergarten.
When we added it all up, we rounded up to $200.
Two hundred dollars putting books in little hands. We think Dolly would approve. π
π Fan Mail
A returning customer left something special in our booth this weekend: the most beautifully illustrated cat and girl postcard set, tucked with a note that read:
"For my favorite bookseller."
We don't have a storefront. We show up in fields and farmers markets with a tent and a rack of wrapped books. And somehow, we are someone's favorite bookseller.
Thank you. This is exactly why we do this.
